This thing called real life

I have read about author's being interrupted by 'Real life' and I am no exception.
For the last week I have been laid up with a bout of manflu. OK laid up maybe stretching it a little bit, but I have sneezed, a lot. Oh and coughed, at least three times. Death's door it was not but, it was enough to stop me doing anything for a week.
So that's it for another week except to say a huge congratulations to Another Wannabe on his new cover, looks fantastic.
Right, I'm off to write!

Over thinking

This week has been spent over thinking everything. If like me, you have sat there staring at the screen for, God only knows how long, and repeatedly saying "The has to be an easier way than this. "
Then I guarantee you this, there is. Go and have a cuppa or a beer, let your head relax for two minutes and, what just took three and half hours, has suddenly just been reduced to three and a half minutes.
Twenty five lines of code, condensed into just four. Aaaaaaaagggggggghhhhhhhh I've been doing it all week.
Anyway, enough of my ranting. I thought it only fair that after such a headache, I should at least let you know what your going to look like in the game. So here you are.

Your thoughts are always appreciated. I still really need a proof reader by the way.
Have a great weekend and rest a little, charge your batteries and think of nothing.

Getting a grip.

A lot has gone into writing, and and trying to create semi-descent graphics, since the last update. One model is already getting to grips with things. (Pardon the pun)

Castleford is also coming along. This is the small hamlet at sunrise.

My only concern for the hamlet, is that it looks a little to Disney. By the same token though, it is meant to be like that. It's meant to be rather 'Twee'.
As you can tell by the top picture, which is set in the castle itself, the castle too is coming along.
Two whole scenes have also been written since the last update so, all is coming along, rather slowly I admit, but coming along, nevertheless.
I will leave you with these two for now, I don't really know if I should post future pictures, as I feel it
detracts from the game somewhat, and,  there is also the fact, that I don't even know if the game will even have full graphics.
I will drink some tea and ponder some more.
Let me know what you think.

Update Five Graphics

I decided this week, that when I get bored, I should turn my attention to things like Poser and Daz.
I am no graphic designer, especially when it comes to the human form, but, I actually did pretty well I think, it helps, of course, that I am nothing short of brainy bastard and, extremely debonair.
You see, making a 3D model is rather like making love to a beautiful woman. You mold her and caress her, every last inch of her. You tell her that you love her  and need her, and that she is the most beautiful thing you have ever laid eyes on. You whisper to her that she is the greatest thing you have ever created, except for last Sunday's Souffle. And then, only then, when she is least expecting it. You Publish her to the World wide web.
I'm not saying the game is going to have graphics but, the game is already an epic size and, if it's the only thing I ever write, then maybe it will.
Anyway, here she is, my first attempt, let me know what you think.
OH and I still need a proof reader.

Update Four

 Four

The last couple of weeks have consisted of implementing things into the things I implemented.
Pillows on beds, clothes in wardrobes, buttercups in the meadow etc. It's all very tedious but, it all has to be done.
I decided to become an alcoholic, to help, through the tedious times. This is not going very well at all.
During my first drunken stupor and, mistaking them for Smarties, I took twenty paracetamol, alas, I awoke eighteen hours later with a splitting headache.
"I fear that, if it ware not for bad luck, I would have no luck at all." I mused, while scratching my left bollock and wiping the drool from my chin.
I have now become teetotal, although, I'm not sure how long that will last either, for I miss coffee so much.
Life is hectic.

Until the morrow, or the morrow after that, and so on. Be good

Three

In between fitting a new hard drive and DVD-RW I have done only a little writing this week.
Implement, implement, implement . I am sure, I am not the first person to find this side of it, rather boring but, needs must, and the game will be better for it, presuming it's any good in the first place of course.
I will plod on this week and, in truth, probably next, with the mundane tasks. They need to be done before I can implement more NPC's otherwise, for me personally, it's like staring at a blank canvas, wondering what to paint.
If they have a home from the start, I find it much easier to write the character, they already have some substance, and a backdrop that envelopes them in some way.
Enough of my drivel  for now.
Until next time........

Update Two

I have spent the last week recovering from my iddy, biddy little op.
The time has been spent decorating locations and putting pen to paper for NPC's.
It's one of those weeks when you feel as though you have done shit loads, and yet, the game does not appear to have moved on in the slightest.
I must congratulate Minterlint on a job well done. I had a quick play through and rather enjoyed myself. It was a pleasant break from decorating.
That's about it for this week.

As you were!!

Update one

Well, here's the first update.
I have had this game in my head for so long now that in less than a week the first 65 locations all with full descriptions have gone off for an early map test. Hopefully it comes back with a clean bill of health and there's not to much to rectify.
The first NPC is also in place although, at this stage, she is only there as an informative source with 33 AskTell Topics under her belt,
As I say, this game has been in my head for so long that most of the locations pretty much wrote themselves and the map also. Can't beat an old fashioned paper and pencil.
Lets hope all goes well with testing.

That's all....... As you were!!

Thursday 4 September 2014

Well, I have finally done the one thing I said I never would and that's have blog!
However, I am hoping that some-one will put themselves forward to help me as I need a really good proof reader and play tester, hopefully with experience of Tads 3.
 doctorrealgood@gmail.com if you could help.

Lark Rise To Castleford

The game has been under construction for sometime now and is moving along nicely, it feels a whole lot nicer than Lark Rise the mini-comp entry.
The reason for the mini-comp was purely to see if I could actually finish a game and get it out, I know, I know, it was shite, I agree with you.
It was actually a bit bizarre, ending up with your adoptive mother, that was never the intention. Believe it or not the sex scene was supposed to be your adoptive sister and her best friend but, like an idiot, I misread the rules, which is just like me, always jumping into things with my eyes wide shut.
Lark rise to Castleford is a whole new banana and, because there is always a fear of not finishing it, I will give nothing away at this stage other than to say that the chances of sleeping with your mother again are fairly remote.
Future updates to this blog will come only when there is something to report, I can't even say how often that will be, so please bare with me.

Thanks for reading
